Watchclock Systems

SFI Electronics carries the entire mechanical Watchclock product line–the Newman Watchclock (an industry standard since 1902), the Guardsman Watchclock, and the new battery-powered quartz movement Newman.

WinArgus is a widely sold guarding software with over 2000 installations worldwide in seven different languages.  WinArgus is characterized by its simple structure, easy handling with standard Windows features such as drag and drop and password protection at administrator and user levels.  Data downloaded is protected by a CRC checksum to prevent manipulation of data. Data can be downloaded locally or by modem from multiple remote sites.  A network version is available for access from any PC within a LAN or for up to five additional users.

Escorte® - Classic, Proxi and Opto

The Escorte is a robust data acquisition unit made by GCS for reading Detex unfalsifiable magnetic data strips (Classic Escorte) and/or 125kH RFID Proximity Tags (Proxi-Escorte) or code 39 optical bar codes (Opto Escorte). 

All three Escortes satisfy the high demands of industrial and commercial applications. The Escorte unit is solid, lightweight and easy to handle because it functions without any operating elements.  The electronics of the Escorte are sealed in silicon, making it completely waterproof and resistant to shock, heat and acid. 

The housing is made of polycarbonate of the same type used for motorcycle helmets.  The low power consumption of the electronic circuit allows the use of readily available alkaline batteries.  No repeated, time-consuming re-charging is needed.  Escorte has an extremely high memory capacity and can be used for long periods in the field without intermediate readouts.  For use in hazardous sites prone to explosions, the Classic Escorte is available in an intrinsically safe EX version.

Proximity-Based Electronic Guard Tour Verification

The latest innovation in guard tour verification technology is  the GCS ProxiPen Data Acquisition Unit and WinDAU reporting software. The ProxiPen is a rugged proximity reader that is smaller than the Escorte.  ProxiPen’s data points are Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, which the Proxi Pen senses and reads automatically whenever the tags come into its reading range (0.5 to 1 inch).  The user does not need to actually touch the RFID tag to get a quick accurate reading, and it is not necessary to push a button to read the tag.

ProxiPen can read a tag even if it is wet, frosty, dirty, greasy, or painted over.  In fact, ProxiPen’s RFID tags may be concealed behind wallpaper, sheetrock, plaster, paneling, mirrors or any other nonmetallic surfacea real plus in applications where aesthetics or vandalism are considerations.

ProxiPen represents toughness plus advanced technology. ProxiPen is compact, lightweight and easy to use since it has no external controls. Correct data readings are confirmed by visible and audible signals.  Its electronics are sealed in a tough polycarbonate housing, making the reader completely waterproof and resistant to heat, shock and hydrocarbons.

With its low power consumption, ProxiPen delivers 50,000 data readings from one “AA”battery, which the user can change without tools.  Any stored data is preserved in non-volatile memory. To discourage tampering, the ProxiPen disables itself if the battery is removed for longer than 10 minutes and records the date and time the battery was removed. The ProxiPen is then easily reset with the WinDAU software.

The ProxiPen kit includes everything that one needs:  a ProxiPent, a data transfer unit, 33RFID tags, the WinDAU software and an incident book at an excellent price.  The WinDAU software can be used with other GCS data acquisition hardware, including the popular Escorte system in combination with the ProxiPen if desired.,

WinDau: The New Generation of Guard Tour Reporting Software

Flexible and user-friendly, the WinDAU software makes it easy to set up tours, download and evaluate collected  data and prepare reports, which may be saved and/or e-mailed in HTML or PDF format.  It is also a communication utility for all GCS data acquisition units. It uses an MS Access® database and the most modern programming tools, making it powerful yet easy to use.  WinDAU features fully user-editable text fields that allow the software to be customized to accommodate any data collection application, including maintenance, service, cleaning, attendance and asset tracking.

The Standard Version of WinDAU is included in all ProxiPen and Patrol Manager kits and has one comprehensive evaluation report.  Up to 1,760 data points can be programmed as incidents, personnel or check points in as many as 16 programmed tours.

The Enterprise Edition of WinDAU is an innovative new upgrade to the well-proven and widely-sold WinArgus software.  It includes additional features, such as the ability to illustrate tours as bitmap or jpeg graphic images.  The Enterprise Edition provides 8 different report formats; and 5,000 data points can be programmed as incidents, personnel, breaks or check points in as many as 99 programmed tours.  The Enterprise Edition requires and comes with a copy protection plug (dongle).

Password Protection:  Each time the program is started, a password is requested; you may log in as administrator or as user, as appropriate. This prevents unauthorized access to master files and configuration of data acquisition units. The downloaded data is also protected from manipulation a CRC checksum.

Programming and Downloading: Tours are easily defined by downloading data points from a data acquisition unit (or manual entry) into a control point “pool.” Collected data is compared immediately after downloading to the computer; and within seconds you can view the report on the screen. GCS magnetic data strips, RFID Tags and bar codes can be used as control points, personnel identification and/or predefined incidents.  Reports can be printed to a printer or a fax program; saved in native VSR format or as an HTML file for viewing in any browser; converted to a PDF file, and/or sent as an e-mail attachment.
